Z brace using 1/2 inch wooden dowel
thingiverse
A custom-made bracket I designed. Two can be paired with a 1/2 inch wooden dowel to create a sturdy support of any length. I utilized this setup to stabilize the Z-axis on my Tevo Tarantula printer. After completing the print, I attached the two brackets to the dowel and adjusted its length to perfectly fit onto both my base plate and the vertical frame of the Z axis. Next, I carefully aligned the Z-axis with the base, drilled holes through the bracket, the dowel, and out the other side of the bracket. A small, precisely fitting nail was then inserted through each hole to securely lock the dowel to the bracket at both ends. The wood's exceptional strength in tension and compression results in an extremely rigid support system.
