The rods lock at the bottom and have adjustment at the top. These rods brace the Z axis towers, to the front of the Y axis, keeping them vertical and square to the build plate. No need to drill any new holes in the printer, but you do need to replace some short 3mm screws for longer ones (10mm). The short screws are reused for other connections.
