Z-Box Anti-Wobble & Anti-Backlash 1.0

thingiverse

A Thing for Open Source 3D Printers (RepRaps). Do you want to eliminate the BACKLASH and WOBBLE of the Z-axis with just one modification? If so, this Thing is for you! The central part of the box serves to remove the BACKLASH by keeping the two Z axis nuts pushed away from each other while the outside part is used to stabilize the WOBBLE using small springs that keep it suspended around the central part of the box. Try it! PS: For those who own the 3DRAG, the Z-Box has a different footprint than the original design. I designed new supports so we can use it on the 3DRAG. Instructions: You will need: 2 nuts (8mm diameter) 2 flat washers (8mm diameter) 1 compression spring (10mm inside diameter, 22mm length) The compression spring should be compressed to about 18cm in length and exert a force of not more than 0.5Kg. 4 screws (3mm diameter, 40mm length) 4 flat washers (3mm diameter) 4 nuts (3mm diameter) 8 screws (3mm diameter, 20mm length) 8 flat washers (3mm diameter) 8 toothed washers (3mm diameter) 8 nuts (3mm diameter) 8 compression springs (4mm outside diameter, 10mm length) You must print: Mod1a (1 copy) Mod1b (2 copies) Mod1c (1 copy) Mod1d (1 copy) Mod2a (2 copies) Mod2b (2 copies) Mod2c (2 copies) Mod2d (1 copy) I put 15 photos in the gallery with the assembly sequence. Attention, please! Once you have finished assembling and placed on the bar, the Z-Box must rotate freely without any effort. Hold the bar vertically and give it a gentle push laterally - it should spin smoothly as if oiled.
