Z Axis Speed Knob for Ender-3 (etc.)
thingiverse
Human: A high-speed entry into the thrilling world of Z axis knobs for the Ender 3. This one is stripped down and has openings that let you spin it with your finger.\r\n\r\nTo use any of these, you'll need a Z axis stabilizer like:\r\n\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3370355\r\n\r\nThe knob fits onto the end of the Z axis lead screw. The hole is only 4.5mm deep since there's very little screw exposed above the bearing. It stays on by friction, unless you add something like Vibra-Tite:\r\n\r\nhttps://www.vibra-tite.com/threadlockers/removable-reusable-threadlockers/vibra-tite-vc-3-threadmate/\r\n\r\nIt's designed to work on my printer, which I've just calibrated to perfection. If you have trouble getting it to fit, try scaling it in X and Y so the hole measures 6.75mm across the lands.\r\n\r\nThe lead screw is 8mm diameter with 4 starts (separate threads), 2mm pitch, and Acme (square) profile. It should work on other printers with the same screw. If you want to design your own, you can find specs and a model of the screw here:\r\n\r\nhttps://www.servocity.com/lead-screws\r\n\r\n### Revision History\r\n\r\n* 5/2/2020 - Rounded and chamfered the center three-cornered hole. It's cosmetic, and I missed it the first time.\r\n\r\n* 5/14/2020 - Added locking holes.\r\n\r\n* 5/30/2020 - Removed locking holes. If you want to lock the Z axis, try this:\r\nhttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4373263
