Z Axis Speed Knob for Ender-3 (etc.)

Z Axis Speed Knob for Ender-3 (etc.)

thingiverse

An entry in the exciting, fast-paced world of Z axis knobs for the Ender 3. This one is skeletonized, and has holes you can use to spin it with your finger. As with all of these you need a Z axis stabilizer such as: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3370355 The knob fits on the end of the Z axis lead screw. The hole is only 4.5mm deep since there is very little screw exposed above the bearing. It is held on only by friction, unless you add something like Vibra-Tite: https://www.vibra-tite.com/threadlockers/removable-reusable-threadlockers/vibra-tite-vc-3-threadmate/ It is sized to work on my printer, which I've just calibrated to within an inch of its life. If you have trouble making it fit, try scaling it in X and Y so the hole measures 6.75mm across the lands. The lead screw is 8mm diameter with 4 starts (separate threads), 2mm pitch, and Acme (square) profile. It should work on other printers with the same screw. If you want to design your own you can find specs and a model of the screw here: https://www.servocity.com/lead-screws ### Revision History * 5/2/2020 - Rounded and chamfered the center three-cornered hole. It's cosmetic, and I missed it the first time. * 5/14/2020 - Added locking holes. * 5/30/2020 - Removed locking holes. If you want to lock the Z axis, try this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4373263
