I've had my printer for a couple of weeks now and have encountered some issues that need to be addressed. Nothing major so far, but as I come across them, I'll fix or upgrade the necessary parts. One problem caught my eye when I noticed a "ridge" on one of my prints towards the middle. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the two 8mm rods at the back of the printer were shifting ever so slightly. Checking further revealed that the retaining holes varied in size from approximately 8.1 to 8.4 mm. To rectify this issue, I created a new design for replacement parts and an alignment tool to measure and align the rods with the rear wall. The bottom replacement rods can be tricky to change due to their flat shape, but they are worth it in the long run. What's more, after swapping them out, the bed levelled perfectly in no time. Here are my print settings: - Rafts: No - Supports: Yes - Resolution: 0.2 mm - Medium - Infill: 20% - Notes: I increased the wall thickness for added stability. The bottom replacement rods feature a flat design, while the top ones come with a spigot to improve rigidity. The new parts are now ready and have undergone some fine-tuning. I made sure to deliberately leave the holes a bit tight at first, then carefully enlarged them using an 8mm drill to get them spot on. The image shows one of the replacement rods in its final position, secured to the back wall with perfect alignment. To change these bottom ones, you'll need to access one by removing your circuit board, so make sure to unplug your machine beforehand! I designed this using Autodesk software.
