Z Axis Lead screw (trapezoidal thread) parts for Prusa Steel
thingiverse
These are Motor and Idler ends designed specifically for Prusa steel (2.x) frames that utilize a trapezoidal threaded lead screw on the Z-axis instead of traditional M5 threaded rods. This design is tailored to work seamlessly with brass nuts, which are commonly found on eBay. The lead screw has an 8 mm diameter, while the outer diameter of the brass nut measures 11 mm. Four evenly spaced holes, each 3mm in diameter, are strategically positioned 16mm apart to accommodate secure attachment of the brass nut. A critical feature of this design is the presence of slots for four M3 nuts that ensure a snug and reliable hold on the brass nut. The bearing clamps are precision-made to fit LM8UU bearings perfectly. In contrast, the idler end requires two 624z bearings with a diameter of 12 mm. The belt tensioner was inspired by a design found on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1036871), and it's also recommended to consider pairing this motor and idler combination with an x-carriage from the same source. An edit has been added to include two new files, denoted with the suffix _12mm, which feature holes for smooth rods that measure 12.1 mm in diameter.
