Z axis brake
thingiverse
My D-bot printer with cantilevered Z-axis is driving me nuts! Every time I inadvertently push the bed or try to remove an object, it drops a little bit, ruining my previous leveling. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and find a solution. To fix this issue, I'm using the GCODE M355 command, which was originally designed for case lighting but can also be used for this project. This command will allow me to lock or unlock the lead screws on demand, giving me more control over my printer's movements. To make it work, I'll need a free pin on my RAMPS board and an Arduino-compatible relay. To add some extra security to my design, I've included some plastic reinforcements and a cheap but reliable 12VDC solenoid. This combination will give me the "monster's bite" I need to keep my printer stable and prevent any further mishaps. **Updates** *October 20* -I've uploaded the final version of the gear for testing purposes.
