The YZF-M1 is a four-stroke motorcycle specifically developed by one of the leading Japanese manufacturers to compete in the MotoGP World Championship since 2001. It succeeded the 500cc YZR500 from the 2002 season and was originally developed with a 990cc engine.1 Since then, the YZR-M1 has been continuously developed in various iterations through the 990cc, 800cc and 1000cc eras of the MotoGP World Championship.
