Designing a YouTube logo in SolidWorks requires a creative and precise approach. First, launch SolidWorks and navigate to the "File" menu to create a new part document. Name it "YouTube Logo" for future reference. Next, click on the "Sketch" tab and select the 2D sketch tool from the toolbar. Draw an ellipse with a major axis of 3 inches and a minor axis of 1.5 inches. This will serve as the foundation for the YouTube logo's circle. Now, create a new sketch by clicking on the "New Sketch" button in the bottom left corner of the screen. Name it "YouTube Text." Using the "Text" tool, type out "You Tube" with the correct spacing and font style. The text should be aligned to the center of the ellipse. To add the YouTube logo's iconic red circle, create a new sketch by clicking on the "New Sketch" button again. Name it "Red Circle." Draw an arc that connects two points 1 inch apart from each other, with a radius of 0.75 inches. Use the "Offset" tool to create a copy of the arc and position it inside the ellipse. Incorporate the red circle into the design by selecting both sketches and clicking on the "Merge" button in the top toolbar. Use the "Trim" feature to remove any excess geometry. Add a white outline to the logo by creating a new sketch with a line width of 0.1 inches. Select the entire part document and go to the "Features" tab. Click on the "Mirror" tool to create a mirrored copy of the design, ensuring it is symmetrical about the center point. To add depth to the logo, create a new part document by clicking on the "File" menu and selecting "New Part." Name it "YouTube 3D Logo." Use the "Import" tool to import the 2D sketch of the YouTube logo. Extrude the design by 0.25 inches to give it some depth. To complete the logo, create a new part document and use the "Mirror" tool to mirror the 3D logo about its center point. Combine both parts using the "Combine" feature in SolidWorks.
