Caracalla, officially known as Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Augustus, held the title of Roman emperor from AD 198 to 217. Born into the powerful Severan Dynasty, he was the eldest child of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. Caracalla shared power with his father from 198 until Septimius' death in 211, then ruled alongside his younger brother Geta, whose relationship with him was strained. That same year, Caracalla orchestrated Geta's murder, marking a turning point in his reign. The Roman Empire under Caracalla struggled to maintain stability at home and fend off the Germanic tribes that threatened from abroad.
