Hello everyone, I created a custom drink coaster for a friend who spends all day playing his favorite game. I thought it would be fun to create a model he could admire while playing. If you like this design, feel free to print one yourself and show me what you've made! You can use any color or material you prefer - single or multi-colored, filament or resin. I'd love to see your version of this design printed in different colors or materials. This coaster is a standard size (100 by 100 by 5 mm) to fit perfectly in my coaster holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3130397 I printed the model using an Ultimaker with white PLA, setting the layer height to 0.2mm and infill at 18%. I used a 0.4mm nozzle with the extruder set at 210 degrees Celsius and a heated bed. To prevent curling at the bottom, I added a brim - feel free to experiment with your own settings! Design Steps: I found a logo online, saved it as an SVG file in Inkscape (see video*), then opened it in Blender and converted it into a 3D object. Next, I repaired the file using Meshmixer's Inspector button under the Analysis tab. I also added a drink coaster to the design in 123D Design using simple modeling techniques. You can create your own template for a drink coaster in Tinkercad or another program of your choice. After scaling the model in Meshmixer, I merged the coaster with the logo and created a positive file. To make the negative model, I used 123D Design to subtract the coaster from the logo. I saved it as an STL file and prepared it for printing. Since the model still had some issues after repairing it in Meshmixer, I exported it to Netfabb Online Service - a free STL repair service. After processing, I previewed the model in my slicer (something I recommend doing before printing). The preview looked great with perfect lines, so I was able to print without any problems.
