Leo Sandberg (born 1969 in Sweden) redefines public art with his metal wire sculpture, 'Desire in an Unpredictable Future.' In this installation, life is portrayed as being in constant motion, yet frozen in time. Memories are remixed and replayed anew, revealing the complexities of human desires, hopes, and fears that remain unknown even to ourselves. The piece features a reflection of oxidized gold with intricate textures, symbolizing the transmutation of life into something new and redeeming. As the golden serpent bites its own tail, it represents the eternal cycle of life and death. We are trapped in a web of complexities and complications, yet we strive for freedom from fate by setting ourselves on a path to dissolve and release our assumptions. In this way, we can break free and forever remain on a journey through the skin of gold that surrounds us.
