Yosemite's Half Dome Detail

The Lidar dataset used for this rendering is accessible at http://opentopo.sdsc.edu/. Due to its extensive detail, substantial data reduction was necessary to import it into my software. The resulting high-resolution mesh encompasses all of Half Dome but may be more resolution than currently available printers require; adjustments can be made if needed. A tutorial video is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4-ICkvyJv0, showcasing the steep ridge where the cableway ascends. There's also a cropped version provided that starts at the base of the NW face for time and material savings. The model was highlighted on the 3D Printing Today podcast, which can be listened to via iTunes, Stitcher radio, or directly from http://threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com/.
