Yorktown Victory Monument - Liberty Statue
sketchfab
The Yorktown Victory Monument honors the triumph of George Washington's forces over Earl Cornwallis' army on October 19th, 1781. Laid on October 18, 1881 to mark the centennial anniversary, the monument was finished on January 5, 1885. This monumental tribute embodies the historic victory won through the French-American alliance at Yorktown. Standing tall with its specified emblems and inscriptions as decreed by Congress in 1781 and again in 1880, it remains steadfast after a century atop a strategic vantage point in Yorktown. Strategically situated within Cornwallis' defensive line, this monument encompasses four original lots within Yorktown's grounds, standing proudly at 100 feet high above the York River harbor.
