Yoda USB powered lamp / nightlight "Gloda"
thingiverse
Hello guys and girls, I've got something awesome to share with you today - a super cool Yoda lamp or nightlight that uses my custom USB light! You can download the design from Thingiverse at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2047092 and follow the instructions to create it yourself. I used a green LED for mine, along with a 200 ohm resistor, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. But don't worry if you're not comfortable with printing your own light - I've also designed it to work seamlessly with one of those awesome candles from eBay at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-10-20-30-PCS-LED-WEDDING-TEA-LIGHT-TEALIGHT-CANDLE-FLICKERING-FLAMELESS/201168843821?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D39923%26meid%3D53157d5a5e5e44468c973e67e06549d3%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D172158427096. When it comes to print settings, I recommend experimenting with different techniques using Simplify 3D - I've tried both vase mode and 0% infill with 3 outer perimeters, and while both work well, vase mode can be a bit tricky and leaves the part quite fragile. So, if you're not feeling confident, stick with 0% infill and at least 3 outer shells. Revision Update: I've added a new file called Yoda Ebay candle.stl to account for some slight size deviations in the eBay candles - some may be a bit too tight, so this updated design is 1mm bigger just to be sure. Disclaimer: Just a quick note that I didn't create the Yoda texture myself - I simply remodeled it from Adam Beamish's original model. Print Settings: * Printer Brand: Wanhao * Printer Model: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 * Rafts: No * Supports: Yes * Resolution: .2 * Infill: Either vase mode or 0% * Notes: I used Simplify 3D to create both designs - vase mode and 0% infill with 3 outer shells. Both produce different results, but both work well!
