Fossilized metamorphic rock is found at Vuosaari's Skatanniemi area. The original layering has been overpowered by intense alteration, and the more even and relatively competent layers have become muddled. Pink granite veins cut through the layers or have intruded between them, also in some places, these veins are muddled too. Layers and veins have been weathered asymmetrically, weathering direction is to the northeast. Layer-bounding foliation is likely related to this weathering, as well as a mineral lineation deviating from it on the alteration surface. A gigapan photo of the site is also available. There's another 3D model from Skatanniemi area showing same metamorphic rocks and granite veins not weathered.
