YIQI LU-Assignment3: Decay and Disruption
sketchfab
This project will continue the site in Docklands from Assignment 2 but take a different approach to exploring it. I have marked five points of decay along Moonee Ponds Creek in my model, including design flaws that led to disrepair in the landscape system, particularly during construction (tree pits, paving, and so on). To mitigate this process, I proposed several relevant interventions. These decay problems are common in existing environments, which include: 1. Rusty metal fence posts - they can be avoided by replacing normal steel with stainless steel and so forth. 2. Cracked post and rail fences - they can be prevented by adding metal trellises and so on. 3. Broken and rotten timber edges - intervention: stabilizing them with concrete blocks and so on. 4. Rotted and oblique tree pits - intervention: setting additional triangle frames and so on. 5. Cracked and uneven asphalt paving - intervention: performing partial or full-depth patches and so on.
