YETI Ender 3 V2 Big Fan Part Cooling Duct
thingiverse
It is inspired by the "HevACS" cooling system design by MirageC on YouTube. There are advantages of a big fan over a smaller one. It can be quiter or more powerful thanks to the higher airflow headroom. HevACS type of ducting works quite well when the hot-end is not moving in the Z-direction, which is not the case for Ender 3 and most other Cartesian printers. So I need to attached the outlet or the whole fan/duct assembly to the X-extrusion. After a few iterations, here is the first working version of my big fan part cooling system. Im not good at naming things, so I will call it "Yeti" for now. Fan specs: 140x140x25 mm 24V ------ Update 25/01/2022 Deleted the v1 files since they don't work that well, and after using v2 for a while, I think it is decent enough for you guys to try out. ------ Update 19/01/2022 V2: the vanes on v1 didn't do what I intended, so I removed the vane design and put a mesh at the outlet to condition the airflow better; also cleaned up the geometry and designed a intake cover/shield, to eliminate some of the pressure loss or air leak around the fanblade tips. ---- Update 17/01/2022 -Added a narrower outlet version to speed up the airflow. ----
