Highly inspired by [Carcassonne Tile Grids](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:25158) by [garyacrowellsr](https://www.thingiverse.com/garyacrowellsr/designs) Carcassonne is our family's go-to game of choice. It's a great tile-based resource game, where you vie for dominance over fields, towns, and other resources, with a great design and amazing game mechanics. Being tile-based gives it one big weakness though - small slips throws the alignment of tiles completely off and you end up spending a large amount of time just re-aligning and correcting tiles. In our case our daughter seem to be the expert at causing the occasional natural disaster, especially when she gets excited (we refer to it as "The Earthquake Expansion"). I found the grids linked above and had printed a number of them. But, in my printer they just weren't fitting well together and I ended up having to file them down and polishing them with very varying results. I also found them a tad too thin for my use. I'm extremely new to the 3D printing world and still trying to get my head around Fusion 360, so this was my first big challenge. I decided to make slightly more defined edges and did numerous prototypes to make them fit together easily straight out of printer. I also made them a tad thicker, to have them less flexible. Also by having three connecting pieces on each side they should be slightly more resistant to wear and tear (we'll see in time). The result has served us well. We've played several games and found them very easy to handle, while providing great stability to the tile setting. We also paired them with the excellent [Carcassonne Tile Grid Holder Tree](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4656721) by [shadowlink721](https://www.thingiverse.com/shadowlink721/designs). The Grid Holder Tree will fit 29 grids (although 28 would leave a slightly comfier margin). Hopefully they'll come to good use for someone else.
