Yet Another Spool Holder
prusaprinters

Yes, I know, another spool holder, very original. It was more of a modelling exercise as I got more comfortable with CAD, and saved me the effort to get the necessary bolt for any of the existing models. Hopefully, it meets your need as it met mine.

It all started with a small spool of filament with the centre hole too small for the standard Prusa i3 mk3+ spool holder. PHIL was my first spool holder back when all I had was the shiny new printer and the PLA it came with. I also took a lot of inspiration from TUSH and Copanko. I'm sure you can spot the influences in the design.

You will need to print

4x Feet Pad

2x Slide Rail

4x Spool Wheel

1 of each of the rest

The material shouldn't really matter for this, PLA should be fine. I did use TPU for the feet pad in an attempt for some nice and soft rubber feet, but the TPU I had was stiffer than I thought. Maybe you will have better luck.

In addition to the printable parts, you will need

5x 608 bearings, for each wheel and the leadscrew,

4x M3x16 bolts and nuts

4x M2x16 bolts and nuts for both ends of the leadscrew assembly

4x M2x8 bolts and nuts for the slide rails

4x M2x8 bolts and nuts for the feet

I know it is hard to tweak STL, so I have included the STP file if you want to make any changes to suit your need. If you prefer the original Inventor Assembly file, let me know.
