Yet another simple extruder drive
thingiverse
To fabricate this item, I chose aluminum due to its machinability. Initially, I printed a couple of prototypes using PLA for testing purposes; however, durability in PLA is uncertain. The design incorporates a 1/4" spring (http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?partnum=9637K66), and it comes with five 11" lengths that require trimming to fit. This specific spring is quite robust, but alternative 1/4" diameter options could be considered for the application.
