Yet another Penrose Tile system
thingiverse
Did you really think Thngiverse needed another Penrose tile design? Probably not, but this one has raised arcs that let you easily give them a contrasting color with a Sharpie or other marker, and it's written in OpenSCAD so you can roll your own variations on it (the raised motifs and lock shapes are broken out into separate modules for easy configurability). Updated now with more configuration options to satisfy your Penrose-tiling cravings. One feature I'm using extensively is stackability, which carves motif-shaped channels into the bottom so tiles of the same type can be stored in a stack. Depending on your dimensions, you may or may not need support for this---I'm printing them at 75% scale in both the X and Y directions, and I'm not bothering with supports. Another option is subterranean locks, which isn't quite ready for prime-time because I lack the patience to test it properly. There's a configuration option in the SCAD to have the locks (both prongs and holes) only appear on the underside of the tile while the top is a pure diamond, so when tiles are assembled, the visible section appears as diamonds. This one definitely needs supports. It also contains the beginnings of a design for a storage box. That's completely untested and still doesn't have a lid.
