Yet Another OpenSCAD Rounded Cube Library
thingiverse
I was working on a toy truck model and needed a module that could create cubes with rounded edges of arbitrary length. After searching, I couldn't find anything that perfectly met my requirements. Sembiance's OpenSCAD Rounded Cube Corners came close, but I wasn't fond of the look when three rounded edges meet at an intersection. I had already been experimenting with using hulls around corner spheres and stumbled upon agodinhost's OpenSCAD Rounded Cube. This model achieved exactly what I was looking for by rounding the corners based on which edges should be curved. I combined this concept with the idea of defining corners as cubes, cylinders, and spheres to create a library that can handle any edge arrangement. This approach results in very appealing corner and edge designs. However, calculating hulls around curved primitives is a relatively slow operation, so I typically do my drafting with $fn set to 30 or lower, then increase it to 100 for STL renders.
