Yet another motorized version of the 3D Printed Marble Machine #3 powered by ESP8266 ESP-01
cults3d
This is a motorized version of the 3D Printed Marble Machine #3. It's only 60% of the original size, making it an ideal upgrade for those who already have one printed. If you've got a smaller machine, you can easily transform it into a motorized model by drilling a hole in the middle, swapping out the spiral, and adding a base. The motor used is a reliable 3-6V DC Small Micro Speed Reduction Geared Box Electric Motor that runs at 40 RPM and is available on eBay. The main controller is an ESP8266 ESP-01 with NodeMCU Lua, which allows you to adjust the speed via PWM regulation. Power is supplied via micro USB, so any phone adapter will do the trick. A 5V to 3.3V Step-Down Power Supply Module AMS1117-3.3 LDO 800MA takes care of powering the chip. The ESP8266 drives the motor through an NPN transistor that's protected by a diode for added safety. This machine can be programmed to trigger off any event you like. Not only can it be triggered via web browser, but it's also capable of scheduling tasks.
