Yet Another Koch Tealight Holder
thingiverse
Taking cues from a Thingiverse design, I created my own model in Blender by customizing the shape and dimensions for my candles. Initially, I utilized an Inkscape tutorial to generate a Koch curve (http://people.cornellcollege.edu/dsherman/inkscape-fractal.html). Later, I added a 3D file with 1mm wall thickness. An update in 2013 provided a guide on how to recreate the design using Blender (http://marcoalici.wordpress.com/2013/11/25/koch-snowflake-tealight/). For printing, one must ensure bottom solid layers, only perimeter (0% infill), and no top solid layers. Slic3r 1.0.0RC1 with spiral vase option was used with the following settings: layer height of 0.25, one perimeter, zero top solid layers, four bottom solid layers, zero fill density, perimeter speed at 30, infill speed at 60, travel speed at 130, nozzle diameter of 0.5, filament diameter of 1.75, extrusion multiplier of 1, perimeters and infill extrusion width of 1mm, solid infill extrusion width of 1mm, top infill extrusion width of 1mm, and first layer extrusion width of 0.7mm.
