Yellow Helmet
sketchfab
Color: Yellow Year: around 1960 This plastic mine helmet was used at Oranje-Nassau Mijnen in Heerlen. Different colors signaled the rank of miners, with yellow indicating an ordinary miner who released coal from pillars. There were also red, blue, and white helmets, each denoting a specific role. Red indicated bank workers, responsible for maintenance and repair of machines underground. Blue signified electricians, while white identified supervisors. In this dimly lit and noisy environment, miners easily recognized others' roles based on their helmets, providing valuable visual information.
