Ye Ol' Homestead

Ye Ol' Homestead

myminifactory

For years now, I've yearned to construct a scale model of my property. Even as far back as half a decade ago, I purchased the artificial turf from a hobby store with every intention of creating it. Unfortunately, I never found the time or space needed for a full-scale, HO gauge model. That is until I discovered the 3D printer. Using SketchUp to design the buildings and Google Earth to map out my terrain, I have recreated an incredibly accurate representation of my homestead. The roofs on both structures are removable, allowing me to showcase their interior floor plans in detail. My goal was to scale it so precisely that one model inch equals exactly one foot in real life, enabling me to print the terrain on my Tarantula's limited bed. Meanwhile, the buildings themselves can easily be scaled up for use on a model railroad layout, which I plan to do once my own layout is underway.
