I got fed up with lead acid batteries' hefty price tag, brief lifespan, and substantial weight. I measured the interior to accommodate two LifePo4 packs, 6v each, which I configured in series for a total of 12v. I sourced them from Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00URCJ4WQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, but HobbyKing is also a viable option. Given the bike's light electrical load, I didn't bother with a BMS system, and LifePo4 batteries require the same charge as lead acid, so it wasn't necessary anyway. I designed the top for short 1/4-20 bolts, but they're not really needed since the lid fits perfectly snugly, plus the battery compartment matches the exact size of the battery.
