YAPB (Yet Another PokeBall)
thingiverse
I created this to showcase a Pokémon character I designed for a five-year-old grand-daughter. The hinge is oversized to ensure stability when used by smaller children. A three-inch (75mm) Pokeball with an optional magnetic catch and stand is included, featuring thin walls (2.5mm) for maximum interior space. Small holes in the bottom and ring allow filament pieces to be inserted as alignment keys. A through hole in the button and holder aligns it to the ring. Simply insert a piece of filament into one of the small holes, cutting it so that 2mm protrudes. Minimal cleaning was required after printing. The SCAD file is included for users to experiment with the design. UPDATE: I adjusted the hinge to ensure proper closure, and changed the position of holes in the button, holder, and ring to secure them using two pieces of filament, preventing rotation. The ball can be fully assembled without glue. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Anet A8 Prusa Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 15% Post-Printing The parts can be glued, but in my case, the alignment pins provided a sufficient hold that glue was not necessary.
