Yamaha TDM 850 Chain guide
thingiverse
I am designing a chainguide for my Yamaha TDM 850 motorcycle. Since they cost around 80€, I decided to print it myself using a 3D printer. I printed the first version with PLA and was pleased to find that it lasted more than 1500 km without showing any signs of wear. For the next version, I split the design in two to reduce the amount of support material needed during printing. This modification also allowed me to add a groove for my chain oiler's pipe. One major advantage of this chainguide is that it can be replaced without having to remove the swingarm. However, I noticed that the PLA version produces more noise compared to the original Yamaha chainguide. Printing with ABS would likely produce a quieter result.
