YAMAHA KX88 Black Key replacement

YAMAHA KX88 Black Key replacement

I discovered a YAMAHA master keyboard (MIDI) and decided to try and bring it back to life. It had many broken keys, and some were completely non-functional. I've managed to successfully glue the damaged white keys, which had minimal impact on the overall appearance of the keyboard. Unfortunately, the black keys were beyond repair, so I designed a PLA replacement key that I'm sharing with you today. I'm thrilled with the result. The new key is incredibly similar to the original one. It's clear that printing it in black would yield the best results - unless you're feeling adventurous and want to try something unique, like a white and pink piano! The printed black color closely matches the original hue, but the surface finish could be improved. To blend in seamlessly with the rest of the keyboard, you'll need to take a close look at the keys. There are also some supports that require removal, but this shouldn't pose any significant challenge. While I'm satisfied with my progress so far, there's still more work to be done. I need to repair the malfunctioning key, clean each contact point, and verify that the velocity is consistent across all keys. If you appreciate this DIY repair part, please don't forget to leave a comment!
