Yamaha F1ZR Reed Valve

The standard reed valve in the Yamaha F1ZR series operates on a simple yet effective mechanism. By using two thin metal strips, or reeds, positioned within a small chamber, air flow is regulated as they swing back and forth. As the engine's intake manifold pulls air into the cylinder, it creates a partial vacuum that causes one of the reeds to open, allowing air to enter the chamber. Once the pressure in the manifold increases sufficiently, the reed closes, preventing further airflow. This process repeats continuously throughout each engine cycle.
