YAL Virtual Reality Headset
cults3d
I'm excited to create my own affordable VR headset that's a fraction of the cost of commercial ones. This DIY project allows me to design a printable VR headset that pairs seamlessly with Google Cardboard and Daydream apps. The headset is designed specifically for 37mm bi-convex lenses, which provide an immersive experience with an impressive 85° field of view. One of its standout features is the adjustable cover, secured by a screw that allows me to easily fit it around my phone's thickness. For optimal performance, I prefer using a smartphone with at least a 5-inch display, up to 6 inches if possible. The headset includes three adjustable blocks for fine-tuning the lens partition, ensuring a perfect fit every time. Plus, its design caters perfectly to glasses wearers like me. To add an extra layer of durability and style, I've coated the headset with epoxy resin and added some decorative paint. Some important notes: screws, lenses, foam, magnets, and straps are not included in this DIY kit, so be sure to source them separately!
