Here's another foot you can use with 3030 series aluminum extrusion. I created this because I wanted something I could mount sorbothane pads to as I've read it's used for vibration isolation in industrial machinery. So I was curious whether this this stuff really worked and boy howdy, does it ever. The amount by which the sorbothane pads reduce the noise from the printer is such that I've been having to turn around to make sure it's still printing at certain times. It still makes noise, but the volume is significantly reduced (to my ears at least). This design is simply a pad that mounts to the extrusion using T-nuts. The design is intended to mount a 1.5" (40mm), self-adhesive, sorbothane vibration dampener, but you could also use anything that's roughly the same diameter. Hardware List 8x M4x12 flat-top screws. 8x 3030 Series M4 T-nuts. 4x 1.5" Self-adhesive, Sorbothane vibration isolation hemispheres, part number 0510131-50-10 (recommend the 50 durometer product for the MK3s).The durometer is really important. I initially went for the 30 durometer version thinking that would be sufficient, but the total weight of the printer, including two spools, is right at the upper limit for that product so they appear to be under too much compression. 50 durometer seems to be performing more toward the ideal the manufacturer of the pads illustrated on their site. Ultimately, I think it's going to depend on your specific use case. I'm eventually going to remove the spools from the top of the printer to a location above an enclosed chamber. So that weight will be gone which may mean the 50 duro models are not compliant enough. Also, for what it's worth, with the the spools mounted to the OEM support on the top of the printer, the weight bias is towards the rear. That might have been obvious to some, but it wasn't to me initially. It's also possible to find similar self-adhesive hemispheres made in silicone, but I have only used those on a record player and can't comment what affect they'd have on the printer. Print instructionsThese are designed and intended to print without supports. I optimized and sliced these for PETG filament.
