Yaesu Radio Cooling Fan
thingiverse
EDIT: I've added SVG files for a laser cut version, along with a picture of one I just finished making. I based this off the expensive SMB-201 desktop cooler available for Yaesu mobile transceivers. Mount your radio in this desktop cooler to convert it into a base with enhanced cooling. The stock fan works okay but your radio will heat up quickly during extended use. Compatible models: FTM-400D FT-8900 FT-8800 FT-7900 FT-7800 It's made up of four main components: top, bottom, and two sides. The feet are optional if you can't find high enough rubber adhesive feet. I couldn't find tall enough ones, so I designed feet that attach to the bottom, allowing me to add the rubber feet on them for better airflow. The switch is a standard push-in latch type switch used in computer power supplies. I salvaged the power switch and 80mm cooling fan from a dead ATX power supply. You don't need the fan grilles on top and bottom but I added them as a safety feature to prevent little fingers from getting in there. The sides are attached to the top and bottom with four #6 by 1/2" sheet metal screws on each side. The fan can be secured with #8 by 1/2" sheet metal screws if you don't have eight of the PC fan screws. Instructions ABS, standard settings on Makerbot Replicator
