Yaesu FT817/FT817ND/FT818 front cover
thingiverse
When venturing outdoors into nature, I always bring my trusty Yaesu FT817ND along in my backpack to savor low background noise and listen to distant broadcast stations or fellow ham radio operators on various amateur radio bands. However, I've encountered an issue a few times where the rig inadvertently turns on due to packing my bag too full, causing something to press against the power button. Inspired by the LDG Z817 front cover created by zauberertz (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2966084), I designed this custom cover to prevent such mishaps from occurring. My base design features lines that allow for a yellow/black pattern indicating hazard warning, adding an extra layer of safety and visibility. Although it's still a work in progress, the latest version has proven effective and can be used with standard straps without any issues. This design comes in three variations, each featuring the model name (FT817, FT817ND, FT818) prominently displayed on the cover.
