I finally took matters into my own hands regarding the annoying gap that persisted under nearly every third-party antenna or adapter on my trusty FT-60 (which unfortunately isn't flat, ruling out a simple washer solution) and created a spacer to bridge the gap =] It just so happens this spacer might also fit a FT-50, but I'm not entirely certain.
