Archaeological Site / La Morería Located on the slope of the hill overlooking the Castillo de Borriol, about 220 meters north, is La Morería. This archaeological site covers a large area (+5,000 m2) and has a significant elevation, with typical characteristics of a mountain town: cobblestone streets, multi-story houses, etc. Inhabited at least since the 13th century as one of the neighborhoods of medieval Borriol village, by the 14th century the upper part of the site is occupied, but this area is soon abandoned due to epidemics, famines, wars, and the final expulsion of the Moors. By the 18th century, it gains importance again until the 19th century, when many houses are used as corrals and gradually the Morería neighborhood becomes uninhabited.
