The archaeological site of El Monastil is one of the most representative and rich elements of Elda's historical heritage. It's situated in the eastern slopes of the Torreta mountain range and surrounded by the Vinalopó River. The occupation of this settlement dates back to between the end of the third millennium B.C. (Calcolithic) and the Almohad era (13th century), with a special development during the Iberian culture and Roman period.
