Y plane belt tensioner

Y plane belt tensioner

Disappointed by the inaccuracy of y-axis prints, I pinpointed the source of the issue as insufficient tension in the Y belt. This minor add-on effectively resolves that problem, significantly improving print quality. It should be a standard feature for Prusa Mendel machines. Instructions to assemble this modification require a 10mm id bearing, an 8mm nut and bolt, and two 3mm screws. To ensure precise fitment, I recommend tapping 3mm threads directly into the polymer material (ABS in my case). However, if you prefer to use a 3mm nut and bolt assembly, you will need to drill the holes. Important note: Be cautious not to overtighten your belt, as it may lead to damage of the stepper motor. Instead, strive for firm tension without excessive strain. Following this upgrade, I've observed significant improvements in print accuracy, with y-axis precision now rivaling that of the x-axis axis
