Y-Carriage Plate Upgrade for Anet A8
thingiverse
I upgraded the Prusa i3 Aluminium Heated Bed Support's Y carriage Plate to accommodate 3 Bearings for my Anet A8. To accomplish this, I redesigned the Y-belt attachment, using a modified version of the original design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:587659), and incorporated the spacer for SCS8UU (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1698328). You will also need 3x M3 nuts, 3x M3 bolts, and 12x M4 bolts at least 20 mm long - I used 25 mm. Important note: after this modification the bed support height will increase by 10 mm and consequently the printing volume height will be reduced by 10 mm. Ensure you can raise or lower your Z end stop approximately 10 mm depending on its position. I upgraded my Z Endstop (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1776429) to compensate for this change, requiring a 10 mm length extension as seen in one of the images (this file is listed among my creations). The Y carriage Plate I purchased from tehnologika.net (http://tehnologika.net/Prusa-i3-Aluminium-Y-carriage-Plate-6mm-Reprap/) has greatly improved its strength, eliminating any issues with bending.
