Y Axis Redesign

Y Axis Redesign

thingiverse

The original MendelMax Y-axis design required a redesign due to its instability and difficulty in leveling, with two aluminum plates. A new set of split rod holders and a bushing holder/belt clamp combo piece was introduced to solve these issues. The rod holders are wider than standard, allowing the Y-axis motor to be moved to one side for easier arrangement of power supply and electronics beneath the bed without additional feet. This new design ensures that the bed is centered and leveled. Thanks to Spacexula's testing and feedback. To assemble, print two rod holders each and three bushing holders. Install bushings in bushing holders and cut rods to appropriate lengths. Attach one set of rod holders on a side of the frame with 3mm bolts if necessary, place rods with bushing holders in slots, then attach opposite rod holders. Mark spacing on aluminum plate using bushing holders, cut holes, and secure with 3mm bolts and nuts. Attach belt by feeding it through bushing holder hole and zip-tying it to itself. Ensure smooth bed travel by checking if each rod holder is tightly secured.
