Y-Axis Motor Mount, OpenSCAD, MaxMicron
thingiverse
The MaxMicron printer comes with a very flimsy Y-Axis motor mount that can twist and break without proper support if the y-belt is tensioned. Mine nearly broke. Here's a fully braced and supported Y-Axis mount that replaces the original one perfectly, making it useful for other Al 20-20 profile machines as well. This design shares similarities with Thomllama's but has some key differences - my version is ridiculously over-engineered, and I've added a back support between the motor and the frame. The design comes in an OpenSCAD file and four STL versions. One version is printed in one piece, making it very strong but requiring supports to print it successfully. Another version is split into two pieces and can be printed without supports, although it's not as elegant but still fully functional. Two variant STL files are available for each, designed for M4 or M5 mounting bolts. The OpenSCAD file has user-selectable options at the start that generate the STLs. Print Settings Printer: MaxMicron modified Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm layers Infill: 40% Notes: Use 5 perimeters and 40% infill (rectilinear) for strength with PLA.
