Y-axis motor cooling fan bracket for Anet A6
thingiverse
We at VintageElectronics.ca immediately noticed a problem when we started using our new Anet A6 (a Prussa i3 clone) - the Y-axis stepper motor overheated during prolonged printing at high speeds, causing the nylon belt to stretch and eventually resulting in layers shifting as much as 4-6mm (1/4"). We designed and installed a bracket for a regular 12V 40mm fan on the back wall near the motor, powering it from our main PS. This simple solution completely eliminated the motor overheating issue, transforming a previously hot-to-the-touch Y-axis motor into one that's barely warm to touch. The nylon belt no longer stretches, and our prints now come out perfect.
