Y Axis Lead screw setup for hictop Metal frame kit
thingiverse
I'm working on a custom design for my Hictop 3D printer's y-axis, and I'm excited to share it with you. This is my first major project designed entirely from scratch, and I'm still refining it - but I wanted to give you an idea of what I have so far. The brackets will be subjected to a significant amount of movement, so I've printed them with 100% fill to ensure maximum strength. To test their durability, I applied 20 pounds of pressure, and they held up perfectly. My plan is to mount the entire frame on two double 40mm aluminum extrusions. You can find these online at Amazon - just search for "40mm aluminium extrusion" to see what's available. One thing to keep in mind is that all of this will sit under your printer, so you'll need to print some leg extenders to give it enough clearance.
