Y Axis 60mm Fan Mount
thingiverse
I initially installed a 40mm fan on a heat sink for my motor which did an excellent job but unfortunately it recently stopped working so I had to replace it with a spare 60mm fan that I happened to have around the house. This new fan has dramatically reduced the temperature of my motor, allowing me to run long print jobs without worrying about overheating. After a 6 hour print cycle, I used a laser temperature gun to measure the temperature at just 30C which is fantastic considering I run my Y axis VREF at a higher voltage than my X axis. This setup has been working incredibly well for me and I'm really happy with the results. In fact, I'm so pleased that I've decided to upgrade to an even better fan - a Noctua model - to further reduce the noise level of my printer. I only needed one M3 screw (although you can use two if you prefer) to secure the fan in place along with a washer for added stability. The screw goes through three components: the Fan Mount, Y Axis Mount and Motor Dampener, ensuring that the fan is firmly attached and won't come loose unless I really try to shake it off.
