The da Vinci calibration process is notoriously time-consuming, prompting me to devise this attachment that aims to streamline the calibration process significantly. Designed specifically for the $14 Harbor Freight machinist's dial indicator (Item #623), which boasts an impressive accuracy of .001 inches, this innovative solution fits snugly onto the extruder stepper motor without any movement once securely attached. Measuring approximately 60% of the bed area due to its extension towards the front of the printer, it is more than sufficient to achieve bed leveling remarkably close while still cold. To begin, I carefully adjust the bed at all corners as closely as possible to zero, never exceeding 0.05 inches. Afterward, I proceed with the regular calibration process and typically require no more than 0-2 adjustments to pass with flying colors. To bring this brilliant invention to life, print it using the optimized da Vinci settings: Supports checked Density set to low at 10% Shell settings adjusted to normal Layer height carefully set at 0.3 mm Printing speed maintained at standard After printing, securely glue both halves together using super glue while ensuring they are correctly oriented. Next, attach the dial indicator with precision by utilizing the provided printed pin, which fits very snugly indeed.
