XYZ Printing daVinci Jr 1.0 - Stock Hotend Compact Mount with Silent/Quiet Part Cooling Fan
thingiverse
Only tested on RAMPS modified Jr, but should work with stock firmware as well, provided you adjust the Z offset accordingly. This mount has no space for a hotend PCB, so you'll need to relocate it if you're using stock firmware. The purpose of this design is multifaceted: 1. Utilize the stock hotend 2. Employ a silent/quiet fan to minimize overall noise levels of the machine 3. Eliminate any gap between the "funnel" and the hotend, potentially enabling flexible filament printing (note: the extruder will need modification for flexibles, so this hasn't been tested yet) 4. Achieve a compact solution You'll require a 12v 50mm Radial Fan for this setup. It's also suggested to obtain one of those hotend insulation cotton wraps from AliExpress and attach it between the copper hotend head and printed part. With around 80 hours of printing under my belt using this mount, I've noticed that the plastic underneath has developed a slightly shinier appearance compared to the rest, but it hasn't melted or shown any signs of damage (printed in PLA, by the way). Looking at the design for "cold end" cooling, you'll notice a cone in the middle that serves as a "cyclone effect" airflow device to enhance cooling efficiency and ensure even distribution across the heatsink. Furthermore, the part cooling fan outlet is angled so it only hits the printed part and not the hotend itself.
