I needed room around the printer so I created a spool that fits inside, taking advantage of the space vacated by the factory cartridge. I added a v2 update on 4/28/2015. I added a handle for easier removal and installed a filament dust filter from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:492067 to keep debris at bay. Instructions: I printed with a moderate level of infill (50%) and the spool proved sturdy enough. Remove the back panel where the cartridges are located and use a Dremel or similar tool to make flush cuts, clearing the remaining plastic bits and top lip so the filament rolls in loosely as shown.
