I'm developing this system for my Da Vinci 1.0 Open printer. This new hotend boasts a 19mm teflon barrel, complemented by a heat sink crafted from zamak spincasting and a brass nozzle. The plastic filament remains super cold until it reaches the nozzle tip, where it's cooled further by a double fan system within the carriage. The front fan cools the heat sink, while the back fan cools the filament as it emerges from the nozzle through a duct inside the carriage. This version is designed for 15mm linear bearings but will also be available with an updated mounting system compatible with original bushings. UPDATE May 11, 2015 Improvements to direct drive and file design have been incorporated into this system. Enhancements to carriage and mounting system designs are now included. UPDATE May 15, 2015 The carriage has undergone significant changes, replacing the original file and incorporating adjustments to the fastening system and overall design. A new direct drive bracket is also featured, along with a file replacement and further improvements to the fastening system and overall design.
